Irresponsible Journalism By Mike White. I love the media. Wait, no I don’t. I’ve had a long-standing grudge against journalists who misrepresent the facts, don’t do their research or interject opinions in supposedly objective stories...

I love the media. Wait, no I don’t. I’ve had a long-standing grudge against journalists who misrepresent the facts, don’t do their research or interject opinions in supposedly objective stories. Take, for example, this piece from The Detroit Free Press, the Metro area’s “liberal” rag. They may be leftish on some issues but check out the big dig in this piece’s final paragraph!

Sorkin says media are too gaga over Bush
February 27, 2002
How about this for a broadside? Aaron Sorkin, creator of a fictional White House on the NBC-TV drama The West Wing, says the entire country — including NBC — is pretending that President George W. Bush is competent and brave.

Sorkin, in the new issue of The New Yorker, said the country was correctly “laying off the bubblehead jokes,” but he then attacked an NBC special titled The Bush White House: Inside the Real West Wing hosted by Tom Brokaw. Sorkin said: “The White House pumped up the president’s schedule to show him being much busier and more engaged than he is, and Tom Brokaw let it happen.

“The show was a Valentine to Bush,” he continued. “That illusion may be what we need right now, but the truth is we’re simply pretending to believe that Bush exhibited unspeakable courage...The media is waving pom-poms and the entire public is being polite.”

NBC had no immediate comment. But remember, Sorkin emerged from rehab after an arrest last year for drug possession, including hallucinogens.
